Description

Welcome to the discovery of Biellese, a lesser-known but astonishing gastronomic corner in the heart of Piedmont. What surprises about this destination is the variety of traditional products and dishes that will captivate your eyes and palate.

Here, you will find refined wines made from Nebbiolo grapes, internationally awarded craft beers, and local cheeses produced from the milk of Oropa's pezzate cows that graze on the alpine meadows of the Biellese mountains.

An authentic culinary experience and a journey of exploration for your senses. You will travel through centuries-old vineyards, artisanal breweries, and local cheese dairies, tasting the finest products of the region.

In addition to the gastronomic delights, you will also have the opportunity to admire breathtaking landscapes and immerse yourself in the millennia-old history of this region.

Visiting

Day 1
Day 1

Welcome to your bed&breakfast, Castello di Montecavallo. Located on a hill a few kilometers from the center of Biella and renowned for its vineyards since the 13th century, Castello di Montecavallo has been a wine production site since its construction in 1830. You will be immersed in a magical atmosphere. In addition to the vineyards that surround the entire property, the castle is surrounded by a large forest and an Italian garden.

You can relax and enjoy a wine tasting of their historic cellar's production as an aperitif. Dinner and overnight stay will be provided.

Day 2
Day 2

A day dedicated to another excellence of the territory: craft beer. Used in the production of Europe's lightest mineral water and serving as the foundation of the high-quality textile industry for over two hundred years, you will taste it transformed into surprising beers.

We will transfer to Graglia where, surrounded by greenery, you will visit a brewery, learn directly from the owners about the production methods, and, of course, taste the various types of beer they produce. If the weather permits, their beer garden will welcome you for a tasty lunch of grilled meats and, naturally, their beers.

We will return to Biella to explore two more excellences: Birra Menabrea and Botalla cheeses. First, a visit to the ME/BO museum that tells the story of the two families and their businesses, followed by a tasting of their beers and cheeses at the Hub Me/Bo Experience.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to stroll through the streets of Biella. Later, we'll transfer to Castellengo for dinner (not included) and well-deserved rest at the Relais inside the namesake castle..

Day 3
Day 3

Experience the magic at Castello di Castellengo, nestled in the Biella pre-Alps.

Admire the picturesque plain and savor the fresh air. Visit Centovigne, the renowned wine producer, where Nebbiolo and Erbaluce come to life. Magda and Alessandro Ciccioni, custodians of this tradition, will guide you through a unique tasting.

Conclude the culinary journey at Osteria della Villa Castelengo, where chefs Elio and Ilir, with two decades of expertise, craft dishes merging Piedmontese tradition with contemporary gastronomic innovations. A journey into authentic flavors, bridging history and modernity.

Your enchanting day in Biellese concludes with a visit and tasting at Villa Era, accompanied by the gracious owner. The vineyards in the garden offer a unique spectacle. Explore the library, rich in volumes dedicated to organic farming, nutrition, herbalism, botany, natural medicine, yoga, and ayurveda.

To end on a high note, treat your palate to a dinner prepared by Chef Marta of Foodopia. Marta crafts delicious and nutritious dishes from the produce cultivated by her partner, Federico, just meters away from your table and Villa Era. A unique culinary experience celebrating the genuine flavors of Biellese nature.

Return to Castelengo for an overnight stay.

Day 4
Day 4

Today, we venture to the western part of Biellese to discover the region's white wines. Our destination is Viverone, a charming morainic lake.

There, we'll meet our hiking guide for an easy walk through the Erbaluce vineyards. Gain insights into how past glaciations shaped Europe's longest morainic hill, enjoying elevated views of the lake amid the vineyards.

The pleasant walk concludes on the lake's shores for a lunch featuring lake fish. We'll taste Erbaluce wine at a nearby winery in an elegant setting, relaxing in their SPA inside a barrel with a view of its moraine.

Departure.
